Our Beliefs

At Spruce Creek, we hold to Scripture as the source of all understanding and faith. Below you'll find a basic outline of our beliefs. If you'd like to learn more about the roots, logic and tradition behind our beliefs we invite you to visit A Deeper Look at Our Beliefs.

God the Father

We believe that our sovereign Creator God exists in the three persons of the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. "There is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist" - 1 Cor. 8:6

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, born of the virgin Mary as both fully man and fully God. We believe He lived a sinless life, was crucified as the perfect sacrifice for humankind, and rose again on the third day. "And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy -- the Son of God." - Luke 1:35; "Being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him" - Heb. 5:8-9

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is sent of God to guide and comfort His people on earth. "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?" - I Cor. 6:19. In addition, the Holy Spirit shows us our need for the work of Jesus Christ and applies His work to our lives. "He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you." - John 16:14

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, written by human hands but fully inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Bible is the authority on which we live our lives and shape our church in worship and in ministry. "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." - Heb. 4:12

Salvation

We believe that by Christ's perfect life and subsequent death on the cross, Jesus satisfied God's absolute justice on behalf of those who believe in Christ's perfect sacrifice. We believe that Jesus rose from the dead three days after being crucified and ascended into heaven. We believe those whose hope rests in Christ's perfect life, death and resurrection alone for salvation will have everlasting life and communion with God. "This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” - Acts 4:11-12
