Pastor Joshua Owen
Pastor Owen has been with Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church since January of 2021. Prior to this he served churches in North Carolina and Kentucky since 2000. Raised in Southern Baptist churches and trained in Southern Baptist seminaries, Pastor Owen transferred his ordination credentials from an SBC church into the PCA (Central Carolina Presbytery) in 2011, after maturing theologically to paedobaptist and Presbyterian convictions.
He has also taught Greek in a Classical Christian high school and as adjunct faculty at Carolina College of Biblical Studies in Fayetteville, NC, Reformation Bible College in Sanford, FL, and Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC. In more recent years, Pastor Owen has enjoyed working with his fellow-elders on a Podcast, The Three Presbyteers.
He is married to Renae, with whom he has three children, Caleb, Abigail, and Benjamin. He has also been blessed with two grandchildren. He is grateful to see three generations of his family worshiping together at Spruce Creek.
Pastor Owen especially enjoys biblical studies, Christian theology, and the history of biblical interpretation. While there is no known relation to the Puritan theologian John Owen, Pastor Owen and his family have been blessed to study his writings, affectionately owning him as “Uncle John."
